Thank you for making me laugh, thank you for being quirky and charming, thank you for dancing to the beat of your own drum, thank you for allowing me to be your mummy. Oh and most of all THANK YOU for standing as still as a statue and letting me get one shot of your beautiful face.

Finally I am sharing some shots caught on my much loved film camera. Nothing beats the thrill of receiving an envelope of surprises. Don’t get me wrong I still get butterflies as I download my CF cards from my digital camera…. however when they hand that envelope over and your heart is bursting to tear it open in front of the sales girl at the front counter…. you wait however because its something you want to sit and enjoy… cherish…. hold in your hand and stare at… nothing beats it!!!

As time goes on and I feel more confident I plan to share more shots… but for now…… My precious Ava xxxx

Still grateful

Today I am grateful for my clients. I have mentioned before about how its the objects in front of my camera that create the magic, I just push the shutter…. oh and talk a lot….. a whole lot. And although they surprise me occasionally with 800 ft flights… (thank you Ria and Paul) they continuously provide my soul with all that I need. If it weren’t for them I would not be able to do what I do, day after day, week after week, month after month.

So today I am grateful for them xx

Cups of tea

I woke this morning with no expectations of anything but a new day. My normal routine takes me straight to the alarm that has alarmingly woken me up… I check my emails, whilst sleepy and very groggy, making sure not to wake the pile of children next to me who have quietly tip toed in mid night. My day begins with a smile. The grateful project as I am now calling it has begun. I cannot express enough, how fabulous I feel when I read all the comments. I wish I could truly verbalize whats going on in my silly little head and let everyone know just how important this is to me. I have no invested interest in this venture, I just believe that everyone has something to share and as said before, if someone can feel something great from reading grateful things, then I have won.

So today for me I am grateful for cups of tea. This is what I do to calm my thoughts, this is when my husband and I discuss/debate our news. This is when after a million tears my father will pop the kettle on, because (he swears) you will feel so much better after a cup. He’s right.

So thank you Mr Bell for making me feel grateful!

And as much as I wish I drank tea from a china cup every day, alas its a brown spotty number thats chipped on the side…. however a pretty picture is so much better!!

So lately I have been feeling a little deflated… something I am sure we all do from time to time. Its winter, its cold, things are just a little blurrrghhhhh. It happens and I know it will pass however I think its really important when feeling a bit blue to remember how lucky I am, to be grateful for little things around me, take note of the small stuff, feel love and spread the love. On a whim I have decided to start posting these things…. things that I am truly grateful for. Its a personal project that I want to share…. and possibly inspire others to share what they are grateful for also…. lets do it together…. if you say it out loud (or write it down in this case) then nothing but good feelings will come from it.

I’m going to start with a week of gratefuls… a week where I will share what I am so lucky to have. If you do stop by and want to share, please do. Ella features the most… its almost amazing. Her organic innocent ability. I see nothing but pure beauty …but thats my job, I can’t see anything else… she is my daughter and if I didn’t think that every inch of her was beautiful there would definitely be something wrong. Her sisters are younger and not as patient…. their time will come and when it does I know they will shine. But for now I have Ella as my muse and that brings me copious amounts of joy.

The long awaited part II

They say it takes a village to raise a child…. a whole group of people to help build something amazing. I don’t even know where to start in regards to the troops who helped create such a masterpiece for Raina and Tejash’s magical spectacular.

I am sure that I will miss more than a few, however there were a few that did shine and definitely deserve a mention.

Davina who is the mastermind behind VIDA FLORES in Auckland www.vidaflores.co.nz Not only an amazing talent but an also amazing person.

Kate from RUBY AND WILLOW www.rubyandwillow.co.nz whom I need a whole blog post to talk about. She created the divine invitations which made me yell out loud OH MY LORD. So much so that another post dedicated to her invites is next on the list.

The Lal and Patel families who are beyond amazing. The spirit and love these two families have for one another is something we should all emulate. Never before have I seen such an amazing group of people band together to create and share such a beautiful day. Raina you are a very, very lucky person to have such beautiful cousins, who were BEYOND amazing.

Brigid, who brought everything together. The dream team who made Raina and her ladies shine… and I am sure there are plenty more to name…. PLENTY

Sometimes love comes around, and it knocks you down…. the next thing you know you are looking at the person who means most, saying I do.

I am honored and blessed to have been part of this extraordinary day(s). Two people who share their love for one another along with their amazing friends and family. My eyes and heart are now open to such a wonderful place and spirit. The people of Fiji touched my being more than I can speak. Raina and Tejash I am grateful to you both for allowing me to be part of your wonderful 3 days. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We were welcomed into the family with open arms to share the culture, the dancing, laughing and of course beyond fabulous food.

This is just a small collection of the many many shots we captured. The Mehndi was day one of a 3 day extravaganza… yes this is just part one…. part 2 to follow… xxx

Winter joy

I know I have been only posting one photo here and there but I have come to the conclusion that one is better than none!!! The shots that have been posted over the last few days have all been from my trip to Australia earlier in the year… a long time coming but finally picking through the bunch. I am truly enjoying the stillness of winter however frozen toes are not on my list of grateful things. Happy frost everyone
